Parker's Sick!!

I have been home the last two days with Parker. He has flu like symptoms but they swabbed him for the flu and that came back negative. He is pretty pitiful. Fever, headache and real tired.. Nothing else too eventful around here to report.

Poor Zoey

Well we had a horrible pet experience this week. For those of you who don't know we have a 7 year old yellow lab named Zeke and a 2 1/2 month old chocolate lab named Zoey. Tuesday night Brian went out to check on the dogs and came into the house and showed me Zoey's eye. My first comment was "Her eye is coming out". And I'm not kidding when I say her eye was coming out. Long story short, the vet said she lost her eye. He was able to get it back into socket but she is now blind in that eye. It was terrible. Parker was in tears. Our first sadness over a pet. We still don't know what happened.. maybe Zeke and her played too rough.. maybe a head caught in the fence.. But it is really sad to see her trying to get used to seeing through only one eye.

It did put things into perspective for me though. I decided it was good for the boys for use to have a dog with a disability. Through Zoey we will be able to show the boys that even though Zoey has something wrong with her, we still love her and wouldn't want people to make fun of her.

Last night we were trying to get Parker and bed and we were saying "Parker you need to go to bed, right now"! So of course our little copycat who is learning to say sentences really well was following Parker around saying, "Doe Doe, go bed, right now"! And then of course Parker was saying, "Momma, bubba is trying to tell me the rules!" Never a dull moment at our house!!
